Hock Hian is currently a Layout Artist at Sony Pictures Imageworks and co-founder of Singapore-based Omens Studios, an award-winning studio producing 3D animation for both long and short form formats. He will talking about why layout is important, its role in the production process and his own journey from character animation into layout

A native of the island country of Singapore, he has been drawing since he could remember. He left for the United States to pursue a degree in Arts in 1995. He discovered Film and Animation and fell in love with the medium. After graduating, Hock started working in the entertainment industry. 15 years later, his experience spans various industry, including games, TV, Film, etc. Hock currently works as a Storyboard Artist as well as a Previs Artist. Hock has worked on movies such as "Home", “The Croods”, "Shrek Forever After", "Puss in Boots", "Kung Fu Panda 2", and "How To Train Your Dragon", "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen", "2012", "Astro Boy", "Eagle Eye", etc. Earlier in his career, Hock was a Lead Animator at Sony Playstation and worked on game titles such as: Warhawk, Lair, Killzone, Socom series, MLB, etc.
