SCULPTORS & TOY MAKERS ARE VERSATILE 3D CREATORS.
What makes a good toy maker? Apart from being skilled in traditional sculpting, he/she must be versatile in adopting the latest in 3D technology and rapid prototyping as well.
Our program trains students to be sensitive to observations, as well as the essential processes of sculpting, moulding, painting, photogrammetry & 3D printing. At the end of this course, our students will be able to sculpt lifelike figurines and can expect to create their own line of physical toys and figurines.

PHASE 1
A heavy emphasis will be placed on Human Ecorche sculpting, anatomy studies and life drawing. Students will be drilled in the artistic fundamentals essential to be successful as a sculptor.

PHASE 2
Students will begin development of their final sculpting project. In this phase, students will be working closely with our mentors and will continue to build upon their artistic fundamentals.

PHASE 3
Using their final sculpts, students will learn to make moulds and paint them using the air brushing method. 3D printing will also be introduced in this phase.

SCULPTING & ANATOMY
Students will learn the traditional way of sculpting using clay, with a heavy emphasis on anatomy. Still the preferred method amongst professional sculptors today, clay sculpting is able to translate finer details from mould to casts faithfully.

3D PRINTING
3D printing is increasingly being used in toys and collectibles production. Students will learn how to manage 3D files (e.g. ZBrush) and prepare them for 3D Printing.

MOULDING & CASTING
Once the sculpts are complete, students will learn the professional techniques to create clean silicone moulds for their perfect casts.

PAINTING
The casts are not finished without a coat of paint. Students will learn how to paint using a variety of tools: from a simple brush to advanced air brushing techniques.
