The Immersive Artist Residency Program is a month-long overseas learning experience exclusively for selected students of 3dsense Media School. Designed to inspire creativity and broaden artistic perspectives, the program takes place in culturally vibrant locations, with our inaugural edition in Japan.

This unique residency blends artistic exploration with cultural immersion. Students engage in a series of curated workshops, masterclasses, and studio visits led by established professionals across the fields of animation, design, advertising, and visual storytelling. These sessions are paired with thoughtfully planned cultural experiences, ranging from traditional craft sessions to modern art tours, giving students a well-rounded understanding of the country's creative landscape.

More than a learning trip, the residency is a platform for personal and professional growth. Students will develop a global creative mindset, expand their network, and gain exposure to diverse artistic practices and workflows in an international context.

Each edition of the program may feature a different host country, ensuring that our students are constantly exposed to new ideas, new cultures, and new ways of thinking. Wherever it takes place, the Immersive Artist Residency Program reflects 3dsense’s commitment to cultivating bold, adaptable, and industry-ready creatives.

OUR CONNECTIONS

As part of the Immersive Artist Residency Program, students gain rare, behind-the-scenes access to some of Japan’s most iconic animation and game studios through our extensive industry network, which includes renowned companies such as Bandai Namco, Tecarat, and Nippon Animation. They get to witness professional workflows in action and explore the creative processes behind beloved shows known worldwide.

They also receive portfolio reviews and mentorship from seasoned artists at top-tier studios, such as INEI, offering firsthand insight into the expectations of industry veterans. The experience extends beyond technical exposure: students participate in cross-cultural exchanges at Tokyo Communication Arts College, engage with leading producers such as Hiroyuki Kobayashi, and connect with fellow creatives in Japan’s vibrant art and design community.

Beyond expanding our students’ creative education and industry connections, the Immersive Artist Residency Program reflects 3dsense’s commitment to holistic growth. We believe that meaningful learning also happens outside the classroom, through deep cultural immersion and real-world experiences. During the residency, students are encouraged to step beyond their comfort zones, explore new environments, and engage with local customs, crafts, and communities. These experiences not only enrich their artistic practice but also foster empathy, adaptability, and personal growth.
