Through a series of hands-on workshops, participants will dive deep into the creative process across multiple disciplines, gaining first-hand experience in areas such as character design, 3D sculpting, animation, motion graphics, visual effects, and more. Each session is designed to be immersive, allowing students to experiment, make mistakes, and discover their personal approach to creating compelling visual work.
Led by experienced lecturers and industry practitioners, this bootcamp encourages students to think critically, observe closely, and approach challenges creatively. Whether sketching animals at the River Safari, sculpting characters in ZBrush, or animating movement in Maya, students will leave with a better understanding of the creative journey, hands-on experience across multiple disciplines, and inspiration to take their own ideas further.
PROGRAM SCHEDULE
(10:00 – 13:00): Illustration – Character Design with Derrick Song, Art Director
- Learn fundamentals of character design: turning ideas into clear, readable characters.
- Hands-on exercises in Photoshop to design your own character.

(14:00 – 17:00): 3D Modeling – 3D Sculpting with Edward, Program Director
- Explore how characters take shape in 3D, from simple forms to detailed models in ZBrush.

Derrick is a seasoned professional in the animation and visual effects industries, with over 12 years of experience as a Concept Artist and Modeler. His career includes a notable role as Art Director at Zealot Digital, where he led teams specializing in Character Modeling, Special Effects, Animation, and Background Design. Derrick's leadership and creative vision have been instrumental in delivering high-quality projects that resonate with audiences.
Passionate about nurturing the next generation of artists, Derrick joined 3dsense to share his extensive knowledge and expertise. His commitment to fostering professional development in students is reflected in the hands-on, industry-focused VFX course curriculum, which empowers students to master software and build a portfolio that demonstrates their creative ability and expertise.

Derrick Song
Edward is a highly accomplished professional with a wealth of experience in both education and the film industry. A pioneer at 3dsense, he spent seven years shaping the minds of aspiring artists before venturing into the world of blockbuster filmmaking. With 12 years of experience as a Senior 3D Modeler, Edward has contributed his expertise to renowned studios like Double Negative, VHQ, and Industrial Light & Magic (ILM).

Edward Lim
With over 8 years of experience in the motion graphics industry, Manfred Seet leads the Motion Design program at 3dsense Media School. He has worked with top studios such as Offset and Carbon, and his portfolio includes collaborations with global brands like McDonald's, Apple, and Facebook, as well as local icons such as Singtel and Night Owl Cinematics.
Manfred’s expertise spans both 2D and 3D design, animation, video production, and visual effects. Beyond his creative work, he has also served as a technical director, where he led teams in optimizing workflows through advanced techniques like expressions and scripting.
As an educator, Manfred is passionate about sharing his knowledge and has been instrumental in teaching both the creative and technical aspects of motion design. Under his mentorship, students gain the skills and confidence needed to tackle industry challenges and build successful careers in motion graphics and digital design.

Manfred Seet
Chia Kai is a versatile artist whose work bridges the gap between design theory and technical application. With a Master’s in Architecture from NUS, he has explored disciplines such as computer-aided design, 2D animation, and material selection for sustainable products. His experience includes developing interactive exhibits for firms like CPG Consultants and Vouse, where his problem-solving skills were vital to creative success.
In his role at 3dsense, Chia Kai focuses on developing a student’s creativity and technical abilities through hands-on experience. He introduces innovative approaches to choosing materials, integrating recycled materials and sustainable materials wherever possible, to teach students how to create practical yet visually striking products. Chia Kai’s dynamic teaching style inspires students to engage with the evolving world of design and confidently present their final product.

Chia Kai
Michael is a Creative Generalist specializing in CG and VFX production, with extensive experience in the VFX industry as a Designer, 2D Animation Supervisor, and Short Film Director. With a background in Architecture and Interior Design, he has collaborated with notable brands such as Hermes Watches, DKNY, Estée Lauder, Robinsons, and Marks & Spencer.
Beginning his career as an independent artist, Michael has produced a wide range of work, including pre-production art, pre-visualization, 2D/3D animation, visual effects, rendering, and video editing for projects like New Zealand’s Kiwi & Cat. His diverse portfolio also encompasses design, videography, photography, advertising, and NFTs. Michael's short films have garnered over 15 million views and have been featured in several prestigious film festivals.

Michael Rafanan
Geraldine Khor brings nearly a decade of experience in the games and film industry, having collaborated with renowned studios such as Double Negative, Koei Tecmo, and Lucasfilm. At Koei Tecmo, she contributed to gameplay animations for popular titles including Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Persona 5: Strikers, and also ventured into cutscene production during her tenure.
Following her time at Koei Tecmo, Geraldine joined Lucasfilm Singapore, where she focused on character animations for major films like Ultraman: Rising and Transformers One. Her diverse experience across both gaming and film has equipped her with a unique skill set and a deep understanding of animation techniques, making her a valuable asset in the industry.

Geraldine Khor
With expertise spanning toy design, product prototyping, and modern craftsmanship, Gelissa is a multi-disciplinary designer passionate about blending engineering techniques with creative expression. Her background includes 3D manufacturing, packaging design, leathercraft, and carpentry, giving her a well-rounded perspective on the design process.
Holding a BA (Hons) in Computer Modelling and Animation, Gelissa has worked on innovative projects that emphasize material experimentation, safety considerations, and functional artistry. At 3dsense, Gelissa empowers students to explore unconventional ideas and bring them to life with precision. Her mentorship guides students through every stage of product and toy design, ensuring they acquire the skills needed to develop unique solutions and establish a standout portfolio.
